For over 45 years, Greg Watson has been exploring the world of art through various artistic materials and avenues of creative expression. Although there are some mediums he prefers, he has always tried his best to master as many different disciplines and techniques as possible.
As a teacher of Visual and Dramatic Arts for 28 years, Greg has always loved sharing his passion with his students. Teaching has provided him with the opportunity to explore not only new techniques but also innovative approaches for self development and personal expression. Greg retired from teaching in June of 2012 but his enthusiasm for the arts continues. In the summer of 2016, Greg was approached by the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre and their affiliates to lead one of their mural projects, as an initiative to begin healing and re-connecting members of the community. He worked to inspire youth and a diverse range of community members in contributing to the aquarium themed mural. It is now permanently installed in the Bathurst-Queens Quay neighbourhood in Toronto. Along with his daughter, they facilitated a second community mural project with children at the Waterfront Public School during the Spring of 2017. The current collections on gregwatsonartist.com feature some of his newest and most admired originals works. The Spiritual Collection features many of the pieces from his 2014 Solo Exhibition, An Introspective Journey. The Spring/Summer Collection features some of his most colourful landscapes and pieces influenced by nature. Paintings inspired by his most memorable wilderness camping trips to Algonquin Provincial Park and his favourite place on Earth, Haliburton, ON, have also been included. Greg is currently painting and/or sculpting daily, and is an active member in the Artist's Co-op he resides in, partaking in multiple shows each year. This March 2019, Greg will be having a solo show of his latest paintings and sculptures. His latest collection features images of nature, his family and his personal spiritual journey. |
